ArborGen takes the best of the varieties and focuses on adding a specific trait, such as disease resistance, growth improvement, drought resistance, cold resistance, heat tolerance or insect resistance. The gene that controls the desired trait is isolated from a natural source and then transferred into the superior variety for truly outstanding Trait Specific seedlings.
Currently, about one-third of the world’s commercial wood supply comes from planted forests. By applying new technologies, it is estimated that all of the world’s timber production could be produced and harvested on an area roughly five to ten percent of the total forest today.
