At ArborGen, we begin every tree improvement project with the very best trees in our portfolio. With an unrivaled collection of germplasm from some of the best tree improvement programs in the world, all ArborGen breeding programs start with outstanding trees. Many of those germplasm lines have been frozen and are stored via cryogenics so that the germplasm can be preserved in perpetuity.

ArborGen’s germplasm collection represents a long history of southern U.S. forest tree improvement programs. With contributions from MeadWestvaco and International Paper, ArborGen has an extensive portfolio of Pine and hardwood elite genotypes, many of which have been in improvement programs since the 1950s. From Rubicon, ArborGen acquired an extensive portfolio of Elite Radiata Pine germplasm, an important Pine resource for the Australian and New Zealand markets. In addition to germplasm, ArborGen also has databases and field trials to record the history and performance of each line.

Companies from around the world have contributed to this collection.
